The monastery of Arkadi, Moni Arkadiou, is located on the Greek island Crete, about 25 km away from the city Rethymno. During the period of Turkish occupation, the monastery got very important for the Cretan resistance. 700 men, women and children blew themselves up, not to fall in the hands of the Turks. I built the Venetian Baroque church, which makes the center of the monastery. I've been there three times. The church is always a place to be quiet, to get out of the world. I love the island, especially the hospitality of the people and the unique nature. So I will be back next year. Thanks for reading. Regards, Barbara
