May 30th, 2013 reto.geiger@gmail.com I am trying to rebuild all the minikit in LEGO's recent Lord of the Rings videogame in MLCad. There are some weaknesses in the construction (weak connections, some - I believe - construction techniques which will make for stressed connections). There will certainly be some inaccuracies as there are no step-by-step instructions in the game. Some colours will be off as I have a hard time discerning which colour in the game is supposed to be which in real life. I will add more models once I finish the levels, but I don't have much time for gaming. Level: Prologue Minikit: Lord Sauron Finished: June 29th, 2013 Remarks: Part 40385, Dinosaur Sail Fin does not exist in LDraw and has been replaced by a 2x2 tile and a dragon wing each. If you have the LDraw file, please contact me Level: Weathertop Minikit: Witch King of Angmar Finished: June 23rd, 2013 Remarks: The flame pieces closer to the front of the face should be the large flames number 85959 which I don't have in LDraw instead of small flames. If you have the .DAT of that piece, could you please contact me at reto.geiger@gmail.com. Level: The Pass of Caradhras Minikit: Caradhras Finished: May 5th, 2013 Remarks: Part 64867 Wedge 4 x 4 Fractured Polygon Top does not exist in LDraw. If you have it, could you please contact me at reto.geiger@gmail.com. I have replaced the two parts once with piece no. 6069 and once with 47757. Level: The Mines of Moria Minikit: Balrog Finished: May 5th, 2013 Remarks: Parts 86057 and 86058 Tauntaun Horn Left and right do not exist in LDraw. If you have it, could you please contact me at reto.geiger@gmail.com. I have replaced the two parts once with piece 33085 Banana. Level: Amon Hen Minikit: Amon Hen Finished: May 19th, 2013 Remarks: I think that there is a bit of trickery with the minifig light sabre hilts in the original model in the game. It should work the way I've modeled it but I haven't yet built it in real LEGO. Nevertheless my favourite so far. Level: Taming Gollum Minikit: Zirak-zigil (Peak of the Silvertine/Celebdil) Finished: May 20th, 2013 Remarks: The third level of the stairs is not attached to any other bricks. I find this surprising as it could have easily be attached with the exchange of two bricks (using a 1x2 inverted 45 degree slope instead of a headlight brick with attached cheese slope). Level: The Dead Marshes Minikit: Marsh with Fell Beast Finished: May 30th, 2013 Remarks: None Level: Track Hobbits Minikit: Ent Finished: July 4th, 2013 Remarks: None Level: Warg Attack Minikit: probably a warg's head (or maybe a horse) Finished: June 30th, 2013 Remarks: I have a different construction from the game in the mid of the muzzle (invisible when finished) as I could not figure out a way how it could work the way it is depicted in the game. Level: Helm's Deep Minikit: Ballista Finished: June 1st, 2013 Remarks: None. Except that I hoped for a micro Hornburg... Level: Osgiliath Minikit: Orthanc Finished: Jan 6th, 2013 Remarks: Base is not held together Level: The Secret Stairs Minikit: Minas Morgul Finished: Apr 18th, 2013 Remarks: Blue bar in the central tower is speculative and will need some thought when building IRL Level: Cirith Ungol Minikit: Shelob Finished: July 6th, 2013 Remarks: Really? Just 24 pieces... Level: The Battle of the Pelennor Fields Minikit: Grond Finished: July 3rd, 2013 Remarks: Grond. Grond. Grond. Level: The Black Gate Minikit: Black Gate Finished: May 24th, 2013 Remarks: So far the most complex build, practically SNOT-only (Designer, I salute you :-)). I love it even though it drove me nearly insane. I've verified the construction with real bricks, so I think the build is fairly accurate. Level: Mount Doom Minikit: Mount Doom Finished: May 25th, 2013 Remarks: Lava flow is somewhat speculative as trans colours are very hard to see in the game.
