Minifig Collector Series - Build Notes Y-Wing "Gold Leader" Battle of Yavin/Endor Koensayr Y-Wing Starfighter 16 meters long (53 studs) Once again starting the the 7150 set, it had to be improved... I struggle with starting this model for a while as most mods I have seen had based their improvments around the 7150 set which for me had the wrong scale on the diameter of the engine nacelles. The Y-Wing UCS actually looked a good model, but as usual too big to display or play with in my house, but I was intrigued by the front of the engine nacelles and the components of the cockpit. I managed to pick one up on sale and set about working out how/if it would scale down to a minifig scale ship. To my surprise, the front sphere on the engines are about the right size. By my reckoning they could be about 1/2 to 1 stud smaller in diameter, but some of the front-on shots of the movie Y-Wing model shows that the nacelles are actually quite large in comparison to the cockpit. Using a reduced version of the UCS cockpit and engine nacelles, the MCS Y-Wing comes in at about 50 studs, which is about spot on for minifig scale. This was a model I have designed from the ground up and hence continues to undergo changes. It is the biggest of the MCS set but is still relatively solid and swooshable though I would like to reduce its weight. It has all the standard components for an MCS, retractable landing gear, Proton Torpedo Tubes, Targetting Computer, full Droid slot, and greebling to burn. The last component to get right are the disk-vectrals at the rear-end of the spars off the nacelles that hold the thrust directors. If you like the look of this model, then I would recommend getting your hands on a UCS Y-Wing and doing your own MCS... bricks away, David
