table corrected 12/20/02 This is a table intended as a quick reference for the spacings required for each gear combination, or which gear combinations will fit in a given space. It can also be used for structural bracing. The worm gear can be treated as an 8-tooth gear, although of course rotated 90-degrees. All measurements are in Lego Units, equal to the width of one brick. All gears are used in standard beam spacings (0.5 unit horizontal, and 0.4 unit(1 plate) vertical). To find the actual vertical spacing in *bricks*, divide the number by 1.2 (eg. 4.4 in the vertical column is 3 bricks (3.6) and 2 plates (0.8) high). I have deleted all gear combinations that give a greater than 0.1 unit offset. The gear spacings are colour coded as follows: Red: less than 0.1 unit offset. Yellow: less than 0.05 unit offset. Green: less than 0.01 unit offset. Alternate combinations are given in brackets. I will be posting a complete spacing guide, with every possible combination of spacings. This will cover beams, liftarms, and plates with holes (P/N 2444). Any questions or comments, send me an email at brian_dekok@hotmail.com
