Hi happy builders, when I saw nfranke's cathedral (http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=873181), I was struck by the fact that by a quit simple misdirection you could make the arches appear less round and more pointed. If you look at the middle part of his (her?) cathedral, you see what I mean. this efeect is accomplished by layering arches in front and in the back. nfranke used the 1x2x5 arches. I tried if there was a possibility with the 1x2x8 arches, coming up with a smaller variant. And tata... this is the result: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Debarg/Windows/090013.jpg What I like most of it - beside the impression of having arches which are more or less pointed - is the mottled wall effect using 1x1 plates in different grades of gray and sandgreen. They nicely cover up the method of holding the windows in place ;-) Thereby: the construction is only 2 studs deep and thus can be kept in nice constructions! PLMKWYT! Best regards, Daan Bargerbos
