World Record attempt succesful! On the evening of October the 26th I have made up a minilayout of 12V track. In fact it was just an oval with two straight lines of 10.75 meters and two 180 degree curved sections, which makes 23.50 meters of track in total. On this layout I started a - in the beginning - short beer train with grew up to 63 identically waggons from set 2126. This might be a record for the longest train with uniform waggons, at least it is one waggon more than driven before here: http://www-public.tu-bs.de:8080/~rbeneke/lego/fgltc/fgltc_record.html Since the engine (powered by two motors 7765) had no problems with these waggons to pull, I began to add further waggons. First just light two axles flatbed waggons, then other short waggons (for e.g. tipper cars from 3225, MOCs) at last light flatbeds from 2126 with 4 axles. At that time the train has had a lenght of 92 cars, but first time the magnet couplings tore apart. So the long 6x24 platform waggons have been exchanged against extra short 6x14 and 6x12 waggons. Despite of this, the train was always running through at least on curve, since it was now much longer than 11 meters. At some time of each turnaround the train was even in both curves at the same time. Then even further waggons where put to the end of the train. Any waggon, whose magnets couldn't hold the force, got new ones, the "bad magnets" went to the end of the train... After a while the engine pulled 100 waggons! And with lowest speed possible (I was really in fear to burn the motors) it was running one complete round without any break! This should definitely be a new record in LegoŽ train history. After less then two laps the train derailed in the northern curve and despite of some more trials I did not manage to run it again with the hundred waggons over a complete turn. But I see the record being valid, since the train managed more than one complete round. Let me just repeat the main facts: - oval of 23.5 m track (old grey 12V type) - MOC engine with two motors 7655 pulled 100 waggons! - no parts were lubricated or glued - no push engine or hidden motor was used - use of nothing but standard magnet couplings (most never used before) - 90% of waggons were new (rest like new) - only some very few 6x24 platform waggons were used. - a dozen waggons have had nothing on top of the platform and have been shorter than standard to avoid too long curve passages.
