Peugeot launched in 104 series in 1972, initially as a 4-door fastback - the shape aping that of contemporary hatchbacks. A 3-Door liftback coupe followed in 1974. In 1976 the 4-door gained a hatch. The 104 was replaced by the 205, but ran concurrently.
