Mazda launched a series of wankel-engine sports coupes prefixed by RX in the 1970s - there was no RX1, and no RX6. The nameplate was used variously on luxury and sporty coupes. The 2nd generation FC RX7 of 1985 used the 13B engine in a sportscar format.
